Holiday Apartments in the Allgäu

Six holiday apartments in the Oberallgäu – all in Oberstaufen, with the Oberstaufen PLUS guest card included in your stay and direct booking without portal fees.

The Allgäu is a region for every season. In summer, hiking trails run along the ridges of the Nagelfluhkette, the Großer Alpsee – the largest natural lake in the Allgäu – lies between Immenstadt and Oberstaufen, and in August the Allgäuer Festwoche fills the Stadtpark in Kempten. In September the herds return from the alpine pastures at the Viehscheid cattle drives, and in winter the ski areas around Oberstaufen open. A holiday here puts mountains, lakes and living traditions within easy reach of one another.

One thing up front: we are not spread across the whole Allgäu. All six of our holiday apartments are in Oberstaufen in the Oberallgäu – and there is a tangible reason for that. Every one of them includes the Oberstaufen PLUS guest card in the price of your stay. For each night you book, you get one usage day with a top service of your choice: in summer, rides up and down on the Hündle, Imberg or Hochgrat cable cars or a rental e-bike; in winter, a ski pass for Hündle-Thalkirchdorf and Imberg/Steibis; all year round, four hours at the Aquaria adventure pool instead. Free extras such as the summer toboggan run, minigolf and the ice rink come on top. You book directly with us, with no portal fees.

Oberstaufen sits in the western Oberallgäu at the foot of the Nagelfluhkette and has its own railway station on the München–Lindau line: around two hours from München, and about 45 minutes to Lindau on Lake Constance. Immenstadt with the Alpsee and Kempten are comfortable day trips. And if you would like to combine lake and mountains in one holiday, pair Oberstaufen with one of our Lake Constance apartments – you will find all six Oberstaufen apartments in detail on the Oberstaufen page.

6 holiday apartments in the Allgäu – all in Oberstaufen

Why the Allgäu?

Oberstaufen PLUS in all six apartments

The guest card is included in the price of your stay: one top service per usage day, such as a cable car ride, ski pass, rental e-bike or four hours at the Aquaria pool. We are happy to confirm the current scope of services before you book.

Nagelfluhkette and Alpsee

The cross-border Naturpark Nagelfluhkette starts right outside the village, and the Hochgratbahn carries you close to the summit of the Hochgrat. A little further east, the Großer Alpsee near Immenstadt offers a lakeside loop, bathing spots and the Alpsee Bergwelt.

Winter with two ski areas

Your PLUS ski pass covers Hündle-Thalkirchdorf and Imberg/Steibis, while beginners can practise at the lifts in Sinswang. Off the slopes, there are winter walking trails and the ice rink in the Oberstaufen PARK.

Traditions and spa heritage

In September, the Viehscheid cattle drives in Oberstaufen and Thalkirchdorf each bring around a thousand decorated animals down from the pastures, and in August Kempten celebrates the Allgäuer Festwoche. Oberstaufen itself has been Germany's only Schroth spa town since 1991.

Frequently asked questions

What is Oberstaufen PLUS?

Oberstaufen PLUS is the village's guest card, included in the price of your stay at all six of our apartments. For every night you book, you get one usage day with a top service of your choice – a cable car ride, ski pass, rental e-bike or four hours at the Aquaria adventure pool – plus free extras such as the summer toboggan run, minigolf and the ice rink. The current list of services on oberstaufen.de is binding.

Is the Allgäu more of a summer or a winter destination?

Both. From early summer to autumn there are hikes in the Nagelfluhkette, swimming days at the Alpsee and the Viehscheid in September; in winter your PLUS ski pass covers Hündle-Thalkirchdorf and Imberg/Steibis. Spring and November are quieter and well suited to restful days with visits to the Aquaria pool.

Do I need a car for a holiday in Oberstaufen?

Not necessarily: Oberstaufen has its own railway station on the München–Lindau line, and the lifts in Steibis and Thalkirchdorf are only a few kilometres from the village centre. A car makes day trips to Immenstadt, Kempten or Lake Constance more convenient, but it is not essential.

Can I combine lake and mountains in one holiday?

Yes, and it works well: the train from Oberstaufen reaches Lindau on Lake Constance in about 45 minutes. If you would like to stay longer, combine a few mountain days in Oberstaufen with one of our Lake Constance apartments – the Heinke Wohnraum team is happy to help you plan.
